Parking: Attendees can park at any of the metered parking spaces. It is free after 6:00 PM.
Speaker Bio: Sandra Gonzalez is the Executive Director for the El Paso Diabetes Association (EPDA). Sandra joined the EPDA in December 2016. At EPDA, Ms. Gonzalez is working to improve the quality of life of individuals with and at risk of developing diabetes and their families within the El Paso Region, through educational programming, awareness and advocacy, for the prevention, management and early detection of diabetes. EPDA provides education to over 5,000 families every year and screens 2,000 El Pasoans for diabetes with a small staff of 6 members. Active projects include education programs, Healthy Cooking Classes, health screening events, support groups, counseling, and kid's camp for 50 future leaders in our community. Before EPDA, Sandra was the Executive Director for March of Dimes in El Paso, TX. Sandra worked with March of Dimes for over 14 years. During her time with March of Dimes, Sandra increased contributions by double digit growth every year. Ms. Gonzalez established varied local programs to focus on the needs of the El Paso community including Century Pregnancy Center at UMC and Beaumont Hospital, Stork Nest Educational Center, Family Support Group in all Tent Hospitals, and the Fort Bliss Baby Shower and Educational day for military families. Sandra has a Bachelors in Marketing with minors in Communications and Media Advertising from The University of Texas at El Paso.
